June 29, 2008 - Moving Day!

I am picking up my office and moving to northwest Austin! I am very excited about the new space. The transition should be seamless, I will be ready to see clients for massage on Monday, June 30th. Visit the location page to view exact location, direction, and (coming soon) photographs of my new office!

April 29, 2008 - Ragweed, and Ceder and Dust...Oh my! Allergies Timothy Grass
I attended a class for allergy and headache relief -- something perhaps every Austinite can appreciate! To address seasonal and airborne allergies that plague us, a range of techniques are used: myofascial release, accupressure points and reflexology, as well as concepts from a couple gentle yet suprisingly effective modalities: lymphatic drainage and cranial-sacral therapy. I plan to offer steaming hot towels with some eucalyptus or other aromatherapy to further open up that sinus pressure and melt away that congestion. If you are an allergy sufferer, I invite you to request these migraine- and sinus-targeted methods as a part of your regular massage or schedule a session dedicated soley to relieving allergy symptoms.

April 2008 - I'm excited to announce the new arrival of a hot towel cabinet for the office! So...introducing a luxurious new addition to my massage services... hot towels! Hot towels enhance the massage experience, adding an element of hydrotherapy to your massage. Hot compresses are applied to your face, back and feet to warm your muscles, providing another level of relaxation to your massage.

Trouble spots, be they cramping calf muscles or a tight lower back, can also benefit from the moist heat application, allowing your massage of the muscle in that area to be comfortably deeper. Whether or not you have cold clammy feet, the warmth that engulfs your feet can be heavenly. Fans of facial massage will rejoice at the addition of hot towels, and allergy sufferers can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy combined with the steam.

It's something you have to experience to fully appreciate just how delicious hot towels can be!

February 2008 - I attended a Thai Yoga Massage workshop in Colorado Springs. I actually went with my mother, who was a lovely victim, er, recipient model, and who even tried her hand (so to speak) at some Thai moves. Thai Yoga Massage is an experience for sure. Unlike a Swedish Massage, it is done fully clothed and on a matt on the floor. Much of a this modality is like facilitated yoga; the recipient goes through different yoga-like positions passively, in fluid movements guided by the giver. The therapist also addresses the muscles directly with pressure points. There is quite a bit of stretching, some of which can be very intense! While I will not be offering full Thai Yoga sessions at this time, I took away some lovely techniques to incorporate into my sessions on the table as well as chair massage sessions.
